Are you getting tired of us declaring 2017 will be your best year ever? Well, we aren’t going to stop anytime soon. But we wanted to share a few training resolutions to simplify your training and improve your life at the same time. Here they are.
1. Delegate tasks when possible.
You might wonder what this has to do with training—so hear us out. Train your best servers, bartenders, and other staff to be able to handle tasks when it comes to training. That may include tasks like setting up the shadowing schedule, going over policies and procedures with new hires, or giving tests or quizzes.
2. Introduce pre-shift meetings
Pre-shift meetings are the number one place to reinforce training, including menu training, policies & procedures, and guest service. If you don’t do regular pre-shift meetings, we highly recommend setting the goal to have them more frequently. They also provide a great opportunity to highlight superstar staff members.
3. Adjust your training process
Are you spending too much time photocopying, hunting down the correct copies of forms, or getting everything organized with every new hire?
