The New Year is one of our favorite times of year! Everyone is filled with optimism and determination to realize their resolutions. The New Year is an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and redefine our goals, personal or professional.
Revising and Re-defining your restaurant's policies and procedures is an effective way to start the year off in a positive direction and here’s why!
1. Organize and update
Things change quickly in the restaurant industry. If you’ve had the same policies for several years it may be time to take a long hard look at them and analyze them for relevancy, and organization. Sit down with your management and get honest input as to what works well, and what is outdated. A streamlined ship is an efficient ship!
2. Re-orient your policies and procedures with your mission statement
Take time to evaluate your current procedures to make sure they are organized, clear, and most importantly that they are all aligned with the direction that you want to see your business take.
Your policies and procedures are there to support a common objective. It’s important to make them clear to ALL employees, not just managers. Make sure the policies and procedures are posted clearly, or available online (or are sent out via your training platform, like Waitrainer+). Simply handing them a pamphlet at a meeting isn’t enough!
