5 Summer Food Trends for Menu Inspiration

Summer is rapidly approaching, which means it’s time to spruce up your menu for increased traffic, different tastes, and summer staples. We looked through our favorite websites to pull 5 food trends that we think are going to be hits this summer. Here they are:

1. Tacos. Everyone has been going taco-crazy for the last few years, but the craving for interesting Mexican food is going to kick into overdrive this summer. We’re talking fusion foods (Korean-inspired tacos have been particularly popular the last few months) and interesting combinations.

2. Low/no alcohol drinks. Bartenders are giving each other side-eye at this trend, but it’s the truth: most consumers are looking to consume less alcohol. But that doesn’t mean they don’t want to give up on trying something new. Agua frescas, alcohol-free sangrias, and mocktails are great options.

3. Insta-ready food. Instagram is as popular as ever. More and more, restaurants are catering to Instagram trends and sensibilities, from the way dining spaces are decorated to the food they serve. 4. Plant-based meats. Just like alcohol-free drinks consumers are looking to consume less meat. Some great meat substitutes have become incredibly popular recently, like using jackfruit instead of shredded pork.

5. Cauliflower, especially the purple variety. Cauliflower has been the weight loss communities go-to fill food in recent years, from cauliflower pizza crust to cauliflower mash. However, it’s time for cauliflower to shine, as “steaks” or a roasted side, in salads or in the main dish.
